French country craftsmanship with an easy flow

A hipped roof and cast-stone window surrounds establish the architectural character. Inside, ten-foot ceilings, solid-core doors, substantial moldings, detailed woodwork, and beautiful floors give the rooms warmth and presence.

The kitchen and adjoining den anchor the gathering spaces, with European-influenced cabinetry, marble counters, and Electrolux ICON appliances. A spacious butler’s pantry connects to the formal dining room, keeping preparation and serving close to the table.

French doors open to a multilevel backyard with a pool and garden setting. Engineered drainage supports the outdoor design, while the concealed man cave offers a retreat with a personality all its own.

What it’s like to live here

A message from the sellers

Coffee and conversation, whatever the season

There are so many favorite spots in and around this home, but we use the covered, screened-in patio most. It’s where we start the day with coffee and conversation—so peaceful and quiet.

A mini-split cools the patio, and a built-in heater keeps it cozy in cooler weather. In winter, we put up our custom clear panels, and the firepit adds warmth and atmosphere. An automatic awning extends the shaded outdoor living area beyond the screened patio, giving us more room to enjoy it.

Our favorite home for gathering

Family cookouts and swim parties are some of our favorite memories. This home has the best living and entertaining arrangement of any home we’ve owned or built.

It feels open without being one giant, undefined space. We appreciate the storage, and the butler’s pantry is our favorite design element.

Making it ours

Before moving in, we completed an extensive renovation with Dana Bass of Dana Bass Designs, incorporating luxury wall coverings and designer fixtures. We built on what the original owners had created and made the home our own.

Dana’s website features our kitchen and dining room, living room and parlor, and half bath. Several spaces received design awards, and Dana can provide those details.

We added the hidden man cave, a hot tub to the existing pool, and front-porch seating to enjoy the park. More recently, we refreshed the landscaping with new plants, a fountain, and rock walkways on both sides of the property.

Our little Dallas secret

The Peninsula is a hidden gem. Those of us who discovered this little enclave like to keep it a secret—shhhh!

You can be as involved or as private as you wish. There are neighborhood events, a newsletter, and activities at the boathouse and sailing club through membership. An active Facebook group keeps everyone informed about everything from local development to elections.

Trails, neighborhood dinners, and music outside

The White Rock Lake trails, just steps from our front door, are the best part of living here. Walks and bike rides are so easy.

El Vecino is our favorite restaurant—a neighborhood spot everyone seems to love. We’ve also loved Thursday-night concerts at the Dallas Arboretum, picking up a picnic or ordering from the venue. To us, there’s no better place in Dallas to enjoy music outside.

What we’ll miss most

When the White Rock Lake eagles, Nick and Nora, nested across the way near the playground, we walked over to watch their three thriving eaglets. Seeing them in the nest and then learning to fly was remarkable.

We’ll miss the park view, the convenience of the lake, and our walks to the bench for what we consider the best sunset views in Dallas.
